Title: Tanya Spence's Final Project Unit Plan
Description:

This project plan was developed with the goal of creating an in-house help desk system platform to assist the current PTECH community that consists of students in grades 9-11 (at present, we only have 3 grade levels and add additional grades each academic school year), teachers, and administrative staff (our customer base).  One of the goals is to help students realize their potential by taking on leadership roles in assisting our customer base and helping them to become technologically savvy to fix their own problems and utilize their critical thinking skills and 21st century skill sets as well.

Title: Words for the World
Description:

This is a project designed for my zero-level skills class (community college), for students who have been identified as needing to, or who are choosing to, increase their college-level vocabulary before progressing to 100-level English/Reading classes.  The goal of the class is to learn approximately 200 new words over the course of the semester (words are selected from a departmental textbook), as well as vocabulary strategies that are useful in learning and remembering new words.  It is my hope that this project will make learning vocabulary more engaging and life-applicable for my students, and I am excited to also teach them valuable project management techniques that will surely also help them become successful in future careers.

Title: "Who am I?"- A Spanish I blogging project
Description:

Students will use Edmodo to post and comment on blog entries.  This collaborative communication will give students an opportunity to practice writing, reading, hearing, and saying the Spanish vocabulary and grammar concepts being learned in class.  Edmodo will be used throughout the school year, but this particular project gets students started, tying together Units 1 and 2 under the driving question of “Who am I?”.  As we progress through the curriculum and students are able to say more and more in Spanish, they will add blog posts to:

  • introduce themselves

  • describe the weather at their location

  • describe themselves

  • describe a friend/family member

  • describe another person

Students will share and receive feedback and editing help from classmates in their assigned small groups.
